The group was established in 2005 when lead singer Brant Cotton was asked to write a song for the feature film, Marines. Von Cotton has been filling the void in the Southern California country music scene ever since. With their unique blend of classic country comfort and bold contemporary edge, Von Cotton delivers a dynamic musical cocktail guaranteed to satisfy even the most finicky country fans.

Bakersfield, CA, native Brant Cotton was raised on the local signature sounds of Merle Haggard and Buck Owens but educated in the outlaw musings of Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Not content to limit his influence to one sound, Brant extended his education beyond the country scene and immersed himself in everything from U2 to Bread. These diverse influences are evident in Von Cotton's music, which incorporates a variety of melodic flavors. Brant's strong-armed vocals are backed by the rhythmic muscle of bassist Hanford Pittman, jazz-trained percussionist Jimmy Acre, and lead guitarist John Bowdler.

Notorious country-music-resistant Los Angeles notwithstanding, Von Cotton has managed to win over an impressive number of both new and seasoned country music listeners. A regular presence at such local LA haunts as The Viper Room, BB King's, The Mint, Borderline, and The House Of Blues, Von Cotton has established an enviable local fan base. In addition to Southern California, the boys routinely travel overseas to entertain the troops in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, Germany, and Japan.

Von Cotton is a proud supporter of The Wounded Heroes Fund, an organization dedicated to providing assistance to returning soldiers. They recently played a benefit to help raise money for the organization (see photos). If you have the opportunity please visit their website at http://www.thewoundedheroesfund.org/ and do what you can. Much appreciated.
